About this file

This file consists of illustrative photographs provided by Clay County for the Firefighter Gear Storage Shed Construction project, a formal Request for Bids issued by the Clay County Board of County Commissioners through Clay County Fire Rescue (CCFR) to solicit qualified contractors for the fabrication, delivery, and complete installation of climate-controlled metal storage sheds at three county Fire Rescue stations. The project deliverables include permanent storage facilities with electrical service, insulation, and air conditioning systems at Fire Station 26 (12' x 28' x 8'), Fire Station 14 (12' x 26' x 8'), and Fire Station 17 (12' x 17' x 8'), with the base bid covering only Fire Station 26 and two alternate bids available for the additional stations. Bidders are required to attend a mandatory pre-bid meeting on March 25, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Fire Station No. 26 and conduct site visits to all three locations for eligibility; all inquiries must be submitted by March 31, 2026, at 4:00 PM; sealed electronic bids are due by April 13, 2026, at 4:00 PM with opening scheduled for April 14, 2026, at 9:00 AM. Contractors must achieve substantial completion within 90 days from the effective date and final completion no less than 30 calendar days after receipt of the punch list, with liquidated damages assessed at $100 per day for late completion.

Award will be made to the lowest responsive bid submitted by a responsible and responsive bidder, with all costs including permits, labor, equipment, and materials included in the bid price. Contractors must self-perform a minimum of 40 percent of overall contract work with their own workforce and comply with Florida Building Code, National Electrical Code standards, and OSHA requirements. Required insurance includes commercial general liability coverage of $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 aggregate, workers' compensation at statutory limits, and property (builder's risk) coverage of 100 percent of project value with a maximum $25,000 deductible. A five percent bid bond of the base bid amount is required with bids remaining in force for 120 days after opening, and performance and payment bonds are required for projects exceeding $200,000. Contractors must provide a two-year warranty on all labor, materials, and work performed with defects remedied at the contractor's sole expense and warranty calls answered within twenty-four hours of notification. No specific budget range or estimated award value is disclosed, and the county maintains local preference and Buy American policies with utility service connection fees covered by the county while contractors bear all other costs.
