About this file

This document is a Payment Bond form from the City of Napa Public Works Contract Documents, dated February 13, 2024. The bond is a legal instrument that ensures payment to authorized claimants for labor, materials, and equipment used in a specific public works project. While the specific project details are not filled in, the bond establishes the contractual obligations between the City of Napa (the obligee), a Contractor, and a Surety, under California Civil Code § 9550.

The bond requires the Surety to pay any outstanding obligations if the Contractor or its Subcontractors fail to pay authorized persons, unemployment insurance amounts, or required employee wage deductions. The bond's value is set at a minimum of $9,550, and it remains in effect until all project-related payments are made in full. The document specifies that any legal disputes will be governed by California law and heard in Napa County Superior Court. The bond includes provisions for notification, waivers, and includes signature lines for the Surety, Contractor, and City approval, with a requirement to attach a notary seal and power of attorney.
