About this file

This Payment Bond document is required by the City of Santa Monica for the Airport Access Control System service and repair contract. The bond secures payment to contractors, subcontractors, laborers, materialmen, and other persons performing work under the contract in accordance with California Civil Code Section 9550. The bond amount equals 100% of the proposal amount and must be executed by the Principal (contractor) and a Surety company. The document includes standard provisions requiring the Surety to maintain its obligations regardless of changes, extensions, or modifications to the underlying contract, with the bond inuring to the benefit of all persons named in Civil Code Section 9100. The bond must be executed and sealed by authorized representatives of both parties, with notarial acknowledgement of the Surety and Power of Attorney attached as required supporting documentation.

The Payment Bond serves as a financial guarantee mechanism requiring successful bidders on the Santa Monica Airport Access Control System contract to post security equal to the full contract value of $90,000. This bond protects all claimants under California labor and materialmen lien law, ensuring payment for labor, materials, equipment, and services provided during contract performance. The bond documentation requires completion of signature blocks, corporate seals, mailing addresses, and telephone numbers for both the Principal contractor and the Surety, along with mandatory notarial acknowledgements. The form is standardized for use with the City of Santa Monica's 2017 contract award procedures and establishes joint and several liability of the Principal and Surety for all payment obligations arising from the Airport Access Control System contract.
