About this file

This document is a Payment Bond for the City of Santa Monica, California, specifically related to a contract for auto body repairs and vehicle maintenance services. The bond, structured under Civil Code Section 9550, provides financial security for contractors, subcontractors, laborers, and materialmen involved in the contract, covering 100% of the proposed contract amount. The bond ensures payment for materials, equipment, labor, and potential unemployment insurance claims, with provisions for legal fees if a suit is brought against the bond.

The underlying contract is for comprehensive auto body repair and maintenance services for the City of Santa Monica's Fleet Management Division, covering a diverse vehicle fleet including light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles (Classes 1-8) ranging from passenger vehicles (CNG, electric, hybrids) to specialized vehicles like emergency vehicles, sewer jetters, trash trucks, dump trucks, and utility trucks. The bond serves as a financial guarantee that all parties involved in the vehicle maintenance and repair work will be appropriately compensated, with the surety agreeing to cover claims up to the specified bond amount and waiving notification requirements for contract changes or extensions.
