About this file

This document outlines infection control precautions for a Class II construction project to replace the emergency department roof at Overton Brooks VAMC. During construction, measures are required such as reducing airborne dust within 25 feet of work, misting work surfaces to control dust, sealing unused doors, blocking and sealing air vents if HVAC is removed or isolated, placing dust mats at entrances and exits, and removing or isolating exhaust systems within 25 feet of work. Construction waste must be transported in tightly covered containers or containers with taped lids, and debris removed only via designated construction routes. Upon completion, surfaces must be wiped with cleaner/disinfectant, waste contained and transported as outlined, areas wet mopped and vacuumed with HEPA vacuum before leaving, and exhaust systems restored. Control measures must be maintained until all work is finished. Exceptions require infection prevention approval.

The related federal contract opportunity is solicitation number 667-23-100 for design/build services for the emergency department roof replacement project at Overton Brooks VAMC. The solicitation was issued by the Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 16.
