About this file
This document is a transformer outage scheduling guide for a VA facility that establishes allowable outage timing requirements for 16 transformers based on current building usage and operational needs.
All transformer outages must be coordinated with the VA based on building use and requirements at the time of the outage, with the Contractor required to submit a work schedule for VA approval prior to execution. Outages affecting chillers require temperature consideration. Transformers serving Buildings 2, 5, 48, 50, and 51 require temporary power provision by the Contractor if outages exceed 8 hours. Specific timing restrictions apply to each transformer: TX1 and TX1C (which are interdependent) must occur before 8 a.m. or after 5 p.m. with 60-day advanced notice for surgery scheduling; TX2, TX2A, and TX4 have varying restrictions from normal business hours to daytime scheduling; TX5, TX48, TX50, and TX51A must occur outside normal business hours with temporary power required if exceeding 8 hours; TX8 and TX88 require 30-day minimum advanced notice and can be scheduled during business hours; TX9 (HPU) requires disconnection from the S&C switch prior to work; TX10 and TX57 must occur outside normal business hours; TX59 must be completed outside laundry business hours (closed Wednesdays); and TX94 has no scheduling restrictions.
