About this file
The North_Chastain_Plan_Set.pdf is a project document for Greenville County, South Carolina, related to the South Carolina Office of Resilience (SCOR) Stormwater Infrastructure Program (ASIP) funded by ARPA. The document details two separate stream restoration and riparian area reclamation projects within the Reedy River watershed: the Little Creek Stream Improvement project and the North Chastain Stream Restoration project. The Little Creek project involves a 6.5-acre reforestation effort and 1,400 linear feet of stream restoration, while the North Chastain project includes a 5.5-acre reforestation effort and 1,200 linear feet of stream restoration across two tributaries. The stream restoration work may involve bank grading, soil lifts, various matting techniques, boulder walls, bank toe treatments, and instream features such as cross vanes, riffles, stream drops, and vanes.
The projects are funded through an ARPA-funded grant and will be executed on previously acquired floodplain buyout properties owned by Greenville County. All spoil material must be transported to Blackberry Valley Residential Waste and Recycling Center at no tipping fee, and boulders are available at no cost from Twin Chimneys Landfill. The Notice to Proceed (NTP) is contingent upon obtaining all necessary permit approvals. The project aims to reduce flood risks and restore riparian forest areas near the intersections of Plano Drive, Vinson Drive, and surrounding areas in the Reedy River watershed. Stream restoration techniques will focus on ecological improvement and flood mitigation through strategic landscape and hydrology modifications.
