About this file

This is an email notification announcing Amendment 42 to the ROSES-2025 solicitation, specifically modifying the F.10 PRISM (Payloads and Research Investigations on the Surface of the Moon) program.

F.10 PRISM solicits the development and flight of science-driven instrument suites and technology demonstration payloads for lunar surface investigations. Proposals must address scientific goals from any NASA Science Mission Directorate (SMD) division including Planetary Science, Earth Science, Heliophysics, Astrophysics, and Biological and Physical Sciences; objectives of the Exploration Systems Development Mission Directorate (ESDMD); or technology demonstration goals of the Space Technology Mission Directorate (STMD) that advance lunar science, exploration, or commercial capabilities. Payloads will be delivered via Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) landers to applicant-identified and justified lunar surface locations, including the South Pole region but excluding the North Pole region. Amendment 42 updates the Architecture Definition Document in Section 1 with new and revised Data Gaps and Technology Gaps; updates Tables F.10-1 and F.10-2 to include Safety and Mission Assurance plan and Master Equipment List/Power Equipment List appendices; and provides new Period of Performance budgeting guidance for south polar investigations. The amendment will be posted on or about January 30, 2026, to https://solicitation.nasaprs.com/ROSES2025 and the SARA ROSES blog. Questions should be directed to Ryan Watkins and Amanda Nahm at HQ-PRISM@mail.nasa.gov.

Subject: ROSES-25 Amendment 42: Several Changes to F.10 PRISM

F.10 Payloads and Research Investigations on the Surface of the Moon (PRISM) solicits development and flight of a science-driven suite of instruments and supporting technology demonstration payloads tailored to complete scientific investigations at a lunar landing destination, that address the science goals of 1) any SMD division, e.g., Planetary Science, Earth Science, Heliophysics, Astrophysics, and Biological and Physical Sciences, 2) objectives of the Exploration Systems Development Mission Directorate (ESDMD), and 3) any technology demonstration goals of the Space Technology Mission Directorate (STMD) that advance capabilities for science, exploration, or commercial development of the Moon.

Payloads will be delivered on a Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) lander to a location the lunar surface that is identified and justified in the proposal, including the South Pole region but excluding the North Pole region.

ROSES-2025 Amendment 42 makes several changes to F.10 PRISM: It updates text about the Architecture Definition Document in Section 1, including new Data Gaps and updated Technology Gaps that proposals may address. Tables F.10-1 and F.10-2 were updated to include the Safety and Mission Assurance plan and the Master Equipment List and/or Power Equipment List appendices. Section 5 contains new guidance for Period of Performance budgeting for south polar investigations. New text is in bold and deleted text is struck through. Also, we expect the FAQ posted under "Other documents" on the NSPIRES page for F.10 PRISM to be updated soon.

On or about January 30, 2026, this Amendment to the NASA Research Announcement "Research Opportunities in Space and Earth Sciences (ROSES) 2025" (NNH25ZDA001N) will be posted on the NASA research opportunity homepage at https://solicitation.nasaprs.com/ROSES2025 and will appear on SARA's ROSES blog at: https://science.nasa.gov/researchers/solicitations/roses-2025/

Questions concerning F.10 PRISM may be directed to Ryan Watkins and Amanda Nahm at HQ-PRISM@mail.nasa.gov.
