LABOR CATEGORY DESCRIPTIONS

KEY Labor Category Title Education Years of Experience Experience/Responsibility

KEY Principal

Bachelor’s Degree in related field (Geodesy, Ocean Engineering, Ocean Mapping, GIS, etc.)

Technical and managerial experience with hydrographic surveys. Ability to manage complex program activities and act as customer liaison for program progress reports.

Master’s degree in related field substitutes for two years’ experience and Ph.D. substitutes for five years’ experience.

KEY Project Manager

Bachelor’s Degree in related field (Geodesy, Ocean Engineering, Ocean Mapping, GIS, etc.)

Experience performing non-routine functional activities by providing management and technical direction to project personnel. A Master’s degree substitutes for two years’ experience and a Ph. D. substitutes for five years’ experience. Exercises independent judgement, as well as a high level of analytical skill in problem solving non-routine technical, administrative, and managerial problems. Responsible for all aspects of hydrographic project performance and assists overall direction to all project level activities and personnel. Supervisory experience with four or more personnel.

KEY Lead Hydrographer

Bachelor’s Degree in related field (Geodesy, Ocean Engineering, Ocean Mapping, GIS, etc.)

Experience managing a hydrographic survey using current technology and software. Apply knowledge of underwater acoustics and ancillary systems to the practice of hydrography and meet required specifications. Evaluate and resolve unexplained artifacts in unique hydrographic datasets. A Master’s degree substitutes for two years’ experience and a Ph. D. substitutes for five years’ experience.

KEY Senior Hydrographer

Bachelor’s Degree in related field (Geodesy, Ocean Engineering, Ocean Mapping, GIS, etc.)

Hydro Survey Tech II

Bachelor of Science or Associate of Applied Science degree in geography or related field.

Responsible for all aspects of lidar project performance and assists overall direction to all lidar based activities and personnel. Supervisory experience with four or more personnel.

Senior Lidar Tech

Bachelor of Science or Associate of Applied Science degree in geography or related field.

Experience acquiring aircraft based hydrographic data including topographic and bathymetric Lidar and other ancillary data following guidelines. Experience processing airborne topographic and bathymetric Lidar, applying correctors, GPS positioning data, and other processing stepsnessesary to reduce the data to meet requirements.

Lidar Tech

Bachelor of Science or Associate of Applied Science degree in geography or related field.

Experience acquiring aircraft based hydrographic data including topographic and bathymetric Lidar and other ancillary data following guidelines. Experience processing airborne topographic and bathymetric Lidar, applying correctors, GPS positioning data, and other processing stepsnessesary to reduce the data to meet requirements.

Photogrametric Technician

Bachelor of Science or Associate of Applied Science degree in geography or related field.

Expereince editing and processing digital imagery from different sources to produce a variety of products that meets internal and or external client requirements.

Experience training, performing independent quality review, technical support, and administrative duties as needed.

Airborne Bathy/Topo Lidar Analysist

Bachelor’s Degree in related field (Geodesy, Ocean Engineering, Ocean Mapping, GIS, etc.)

Experience managing a hydrographic survey using current technology and software. Apply knowledge of airborne Lidar and ancillary systems to the practice of hydrography and meet required specifications. Evaluate and resolve unexplained artifacts in unique hydrographic datasets. A Master’s degree substitutes for two years’ experience and a Ph. D. substitutes for five years’ experience.

Pilot (Conventional) High school diploma and 2 years of college

2500 min total flying hours 500 hours flying hours in aircraft type

Ensures safe and efficient aircraft operation. Coordinates all missions with appropriate fixed-base operators, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) flight standard district offices, military range control, and air traffic controller facilities (military and civilian). Ensures aircraft maintenance is properly accomplished and documented.

Current FAA designation as a commercial or airline transport pilot with unlimited multi-engine and instrument rating.

Imagrey/Lidar Specialist

Bachelor of Science or Associate of Applied Science degree in geography or related field.

Experience in analyzing and processing digital imagery from different sources or aerial topographic and bathymetric Lidar acquisition and processing. Experience processing aeroborne topographic and bathymetric Lidar data applying correctors to meet requirements.

Data Processing Manager Bachelor’s Degree 5

Experience in analyzing and processing bathymetric data from multibeam echosounder and vertical beam echosounder including sidescan sonar imagery.

Experience applying correctors to meet requirements.

Data Processing Specialist Bachelor’s Degree 3

Experience in analyzing and processing bathymetric data from multibeam echosounder and vertical beam echosounder including sidescan sonar imagery.

Experience applying correctors to meet requirements.

Network Administrator Bachelor’s Degree 2 Experience creating and maintaining networks to support data acquisition and processing.

Senior GIS Specialist Bachelor’s Degree 5

Experience applying GIS to hydrographic datasets. A Master’s degree substitutes for two years’ experience and a Ph. D. substitutes for five years’ experience. Provides high-level problem solving for the application of hydrographic survey data in a GIS.

GIS Specialist Bachelor’s Degree 0 to 1 Experience in related field. A Master’s degree substitutes for experience.

Surveying Technician High school diploma 2-3

Locates and/or establishes control points, validates land feature positions, and operates GPS base station equipment in support of aerial topographic and bathymetric Lidar projects.

Surveying Aid High school diploma 0-1 Experience in assisting land based horizontal and vertical positioning using GPS and levels as well as establishing base stations, recovinging and installing benchmarks.

Professional Surveyor Bachelor’s degree 10 Experience with legal aspects of land surveying in state where performing work. Professional survey license.

Surveying Party Chief Bachelor’s degree 10 Experience coordinating activities of field crew. Conducts reconnaissance to locate existing control points and base station locations.

Party Chief Bachelor’s degree 5 Experience coordinating activites of field crew installing, maintaining, or removing water level gauges and supporting equipment.

Computer Programmer Bachelor’s degree 2 Experience creating and maintaining applications that directly support hydrographic data acquisition and processing.

Administrative Assistant III High school diploma 7

Providing support to the professional staff, including file maintenance, maintenance of company calenders, answering phones, and monitoring the reception desk.

Responsibilities also include data entry, travel arrangement and support.

Administrative Assistant II High school diploma 5

Experience using teathered equipment to tend working divers using SCUBA gear to investigate wrecks, rocks, or obstructions and installing, maintaining, and removing water level measuring equipment to support hydrographic surveys.

Small Boat Operator High school diploma 3 Experience operating small boats engaged in hydrographic surveying. Possesess currect USCG licesnse for size and type of vessel in operation.

Tide Technician High school diploma 4

Experience assisting with the installation, maintenance, and removal of water level measurement gauges and benchmarks. Experience performing basic vertical leveling of gauge to bencmarks.

Tide Aid High school diploma 0-2

Experience assisting with the installation, maintenance, and removal of water level measurement gauges and benchmarks. Experience performing basic vertical leveling of gauge to bencmarks.

Tide Analyst Bachelor’s degree 4

Experience processing water level data, tidal tabulation, and computation of tidal datums, tidal zoning determination, and applying water level correctos to determine depths.

KEY Vertical Control Specialist Bachelor’s degree 6

Experience with the installation, maintenance, and removal of water level measurement gauges and benchmarks. Experience performing vertical leveling of gauge to bencmarks and creating suppring reports.
