About this file
This is a Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Industrial, Technical and Professional Employees Union (OPEIU Local 4873, AFL-CIO) and Southern Food Service Management, Inc., covering food service employees at Fort Knox, Kentucky. The agreement is effective November 28, 2023, through November 27, 2024, and applies to regular non-seasonal food service employees working at Building 2385 and periodic temporary subsidiary operations at Buildings 502, 1491, and 2380, specifically excluding management, supervisors, office clerical, and administrative personnel.
The agreement establishes comprehensive employment terms including union security requirements with mandatory membership after a 30-day probationary period, a 90-day initial probation for new employees, and seniority-based layoff and recall procedures. Compensation includes hourly wage rates ranging from $15.00 to $18.04 currently, with increases effective January 1, 2024, ranging from $17.20 to $20.24 depending on position (Cook II, Cook I, Ration Clerk, AFMIS Clerk, Headcount Clerk/Cashier, and Dining Facility Attendant). Additional benefits include health and welfare contributions of $4.80 per hour (current) increasing to $5.00 per hour effective January 1, 2024; vacation accrual ranging from one to four weeks based on tenure; twelve paid holidays; sick leave accrued at one hour per 30 hours worked; bereavement leave; military leave; and a pension contribution of $1.35 per hour for non-probationary employees. Overtime is paid at 1.5 times the hourly rate for hours exceeding 40 per week, with employees entitled to minimum four continuous hours when called in within two hours of their next shift. The agreement includes provisions for job bidding on permanent positions with a seven-day posting period, grievance procedures with three-step resolution leading to binding arbitration, restrictions on work assignments to temporary dining facilities, shop steward protections, no-strike provisions, and drug and alcohol-free workplace policies.
