About this file
This is an informational document describing the U.S. Army's campus-style dining venues for soldiers living in barracks on meal cards. The dining program is designed to provide soldiers with daily meal allowances converted into point values that can be spent at on-base restaurants throughout the day, allowing flexibility in meal timing and selection.
The Army provides barracks soldiers with three meals daily valued at $39 total per day ($9.57 breakfast, $15.88 lunch, and $13.57 dinner). These meal values are converted by venue contractors into usable credits that soldiers can spend at any time throughout the day at campus-style dining establishments. Soldiers with Meal Entitlement Code 09 can view their remaining balance on receipts to optimize spending. The $39 daily value resets without carryover, though unused breakfast funds can roll into lunch and dinner accounts. However, if a soldier scans their meal card at one location, that same meal cannot be ordered at another military dining location (such as a food truck or kiosk), though they may use remaining funds from a different meal period at a subsequent DFAC. All dining venues are open to soldiers on Basic Allowance for Subsistence, families, civilians, and contractors, who pay à la carte pricing. The document emphasizes that soldiers must verify their Meal Entitlement Code is set to 09 by their unit S-1 for CAC scan access before dining.
