About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document clarifying technical requirements for a roller track solicitation. The Government seeks roller track systems to be installed on existing horizontal unistrut supports spanning a maximum unsupported distance of 58.5 inches across six shelves approximately 12 inches wide and 20 feet long. The roller tracks will rest on top of the supports under their own weight without requiring attachment methods.

The technical specifications require wheels or rollers constructed of steel, ABS, or alternative durable impact-resistant materials with center spacing of 6 inches or less. Each linear foot of track assembly must support a minimum load of 2.0 pounds under standard gravity-feed and hand-push conditions. Rollers must rotate freely under standard hand-push loads. The tracks are intended for dry, indoor conditions with no moisture, salt, temperature, chemical, corrosion, cleanliness, or static-control requirements. The items being conveyed across the 2.0-inch clear width are long, cylindrical objects with smooth, rubbery surfaces. Material specifications, spacing specifications, and weight requirements have been clarified in solicitation Amendment 0001. No technical drawings are available; offerors should quote solutions meeting the specifications provided in the RFQ. The Government will perform assembly of both the roller tracks and shelves, and no attachment method to the supports is required.

Ques ons and Answers:

Availability of Roller Track Drawings:

QuesƟons: Could you please confirm whether a drawing or print is available? If not, please confirm that suppliers should quote based solely on the specificaƟons provided in the RFQ.

Answer: There is no drawing applicable to the roller tracks, offerors are encouraged to quote soluƟons meeƟng the technical specificaƟons in the RFQ. A sketch of the exisƟng Government shelves has been idenƟfied herein.

Material, Spacing, Width, Speed, Weight requirements

QuesƟon: Do the required wheels/rollers need to be steel or ABS?

Answer: Steel, ABS, or AlternaƟve durable, impact-resistant materials are all acceptable.

Material specificaƟons have been clarified in solicitaƟon Amendment 0001

QuesƟon: What is the required wheel/roller center spacing?

Answer: Center spacing shall be less than or equal to 6 inches apart. Spacing specificaƟons have been clarified in solicitaƟon Amendment 0001

QuesƟon: Please confirm the required channel size/profile for the wheels/rollers.

Answer: Please refer to the specificaƟons in the RFQ for channel width requirements.

QuesƟon: What is the length of conveyor?

Answer: Please refer to the specificaƟons in the RFQ for length requirements.

QuesƟon: What is the desired operaƟng/conveyor speed?

Answer: Rollers must rotate freely under standard hand-push loads.

QuesƟon: What is the esƟmated maximum weight or load per linear foot (or maximum weight per individual roller) the track system must support under standard gravity-feed/hand-push condiƟons?

Answer: Each linear foot of the track assembly must be capable of supporƟng a minimum load of 2.0 lbs. Weight requirements have been clarified in solicitaƟon amendment 0001

QuesƟon: Are the tracks intended for indoor, dry condiƟons, or are there moisture, salt, temperature, chemical, corrosion, cleanliness or staƟc-control requirements?

Answer: . The tracks are intended for dry, indoor condiƟons.

Conveyed Material:

QuesƟon: Are there addiƟonal details available regarding the weight, surface material, or footprint of the items being conveyed across the 2.0-inch clear width?

Answer: The items being conveyed are long, cylindrical, and have a smooth, rubbery surface.

Assembly:

QuesƟon: Do you have a team to assemble

Answer: The Government will be performing assembly

Shelves:

QuesƟons: What are the shelves you are referring too? Is this something that you are providing

(shelves)? Please confirm the shelf dimensions. We understand the width to be approximately

12 inches and the length approximately 20 feet, but the required height is unclear. Are the six shelves installed side by side or stacked verƟcally? If stacked, what clearance is required between each shelf/row? Does the shelf framing need to remain open and accessible, or should it be enclosed? If access is required, should access be from the top, side, or boƩom?How are the shelves intended to be mounted — overhead, floor-mounted, or along a wall? Are there specified mounƟng-point locaƟons? How many mounƟng points are required to safely support the anƟcipated load?

Answer: The shelves are exisƟng Government structures, that the Government will be assembling the roller tracks on. The size of the shelves is provided solely for offerors to understand space requirements of the rollers. The Government does not require offerors to provide or assembly the shelves.

QuesƟons: What are the shelf material and construcƟon? Will the tracks rest on conƟnuous decking or span between supports? Please confirm the maximum unsupported span, permiƩed aƩachment method and any restricƟons on drilling or modifying the shelves. Interface photographs or a simple sketch would be helpful, if available.

Answer: The roller track will rest on horizontal unistrut supports without decking in between.

The maximum unsupported span is 58.5”. The roller tracks rest on top of the supports and stays in place under its own weight. An aƩachment method to the supports is not required. A sketch of the shelves is idenƟfied below:
