About this file
This document is a Data Item Description (DID) that provides the format requirements and preparation instructions for scientific and technical reports. The DID specifies that the reports document and disseminate the results of analytical studies, research, development, test and evaluation (RDT&E) on an assigned task. The reports may be definitive, exploratory, or an evaluation of critical subsystems or technical problems. The DID supersedes several previous versions and is applicable to the elements, organization and design of technical publications. It requires the reports to be clearly written, describe accomplishments adequately with no technical errors, and be approved for public release and sale.
The related federal contract opportunity is a Request for Quote (RFQ) for Engineered Material Analysis. This is an all-or-none requirement, and partial quotes will be deemed unresponsive. The Government will award a single purchase order to the responsible Offeror whose quote conforms to the requirements and is most advantageous based on the criteria in the solicitation. Quotes are due by the response date and must be submitted electronically. The solicitation is issued by the Department of the Navy Naval Sea Systems Command.
