Question Answer

1. N6230617R0008 Para 3

When is it intended that the work be scheduled? Does the successful bidder learn the assignment on contract and then have one year within which to complete the work or does the successful team not learn the assignment until some point within the year and then need to execute that assignment immediately (or shortly thereafter)?

The bidder will be given the areas to be surveyed when the contract is awarded. The bidder then has one year to complete the contract, i.e. survey the areas and process the data.

2. N6230617R0008 Para 5.2

Are there any restrictions on vessel flagging or crew nationalities?

Refer to FAR Part 25 Foreign Acquisition, and associated DFAR and NMCARS

3. N6230617R0008 Att. B – Price Schedule

There are two outline CLINs associated with this Solicitation which are to be costed.

Approximately how much work is actually associated with the contract to be executed within the 1‐year period of performance?

The contract must be completed within the POP. This includes surveying the requested areas and processing the collected data.

4. 2.1 The previous response indicated survey depths as follows: “1 area estimating to have approximate depth of 245m at the peak with moderate sloping grade. The other area, estimated at 400m depth range at peak.”

Could you please confirm the deepest depth range of the latter area as 400m? If the greatest depth anticipated is 400m, then can you please advise the requirement for a full ocean depth sonar system (EM122)?

The deepest depth range estimated is not 400m.

We are estimating about 400m at peak (top of seamount). The areas are unsurveyed, we can't estimate the size, shape, or deepest depth range using the altimetry data. Altimetry data is a gravity reading. Based on the gravity reading in the second area compared to gravity readings of similar features of known depth, we are estimating approximately 400 m at peak, not deepest depth. The requirement for a full ocean depth sonar system is because the deepest depth within the specified area is unknown and could extend pass the shallow water systems.
