About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file for the removal of four double-wide trailers at Norfolk Naval Shipyard. The Q&A provides detailed specifications about the trailer removal, including each double-wide trailer weighing between 21K-27K pounds, measuring 24' x 40', and situated on bricks rather than wheels. Site-specific details include a berth 22 location with specific crane setup areas, two notable obstructions (a light pole and a utility area), and access requirements through Gate F of the Controlled Industrial Area.
Key operational details include the contractor being responsible for their own badging, providing a lift plan for approval (with a 2-week approval process), and having staging space provided for crane removal. No hazardous materials were identified with the trailers. The removal is part of a solicitation (N4215826Q0001) issued by the Department of the Navy Naval Sea Systems Command, which requires the contractor to remove four temporary production facilities, demolish them on-site if desired, and dispose of all associated debris and leftover materials properly.
