QUESTION #1:

The scope of work identified in Work

Item131-11-001, paragraphs 3.1 through 3.4.1.1 is duplicated in work item 631-21-001, paragraphs 3.1 through 3.5. The contractor requests that the government delete the requirements of 631-21-001 for the blasting and nonskid application of the main deck as work item 131-11-001 incorporates structural examination and repairs of the main deck in that item.

Answer to Question #1:

ESPEC’S 131-11-001 and 631-11-

001 requirements steps are duplicated because 131-11-001 requires the main deck to be blasted upon arrival for inspection and 631-11-001 would allow the deck to be re-blasted due to surface rust build up “that will occur” during the yard period prior to priming and painting. Estimates allow funding for this work to be accomplished on both ESPEC’s.
