About this file

This document is an Amendment (Amendment No. 0004) to a federal solicitation for a Remote Condensing Unit Installation project at Camp Lejeune. The amendment, issued by NAVFAC Mid-Atlantic Resident Officer in Charge of Construction, provides detailed responses to seven technical questions regarding the refrigeration system installation, including specifics about existing rooftop refrigeration condensing unit components, piping requirements, and installation parameters.

Key details include confirmation that the existing rooftop refrigeration condensing unit will not be demolished, guidance on handling existing system components (such as compressors, receivers, valves, and controls), and technical specifications for the new remote condensing unit. The amendment specifies that the new Remote Condensing Unit requires a receiver, allows reuse of the existing solenoid valve/actuator if pipe sizes remain consistent, and mandates that any necessary refrigeration piping modifications must include proper insulation with an aluminum jacket. The time and date for proposals remains 1400 on 31 July 2025, and contractors are advised that failure to acknowledge this amendment may result in proposal rejection.

CONTINUATION SHEET

1. QUESTION: The existing rooftop refrigeration condensing unit in the roof is feeding several systems beside the cooler box at the same time. Please confirm that the rooftop condenser unit is not to be demolished in this project.

ANSWER: The existing r demolished in this project.

2. QUESTION: The condenser unit that feeding the reefer box I is down. Do we need to remove the compressor, receiver, valves and filter dryers, and differential pressure controls located inside the rooftop refrigeration condensing unit or do they need to abandon in place.

ANSWER:

Compressor, Receiver, Valves and Filter Driers, and Differential Pressure Controls.

3. QUESTION: Does the new remote condensing unit have to have a receiver or not?

ANSWER: The

4. QUESTION: Do we need to replace the existing solonoid valve/actuator for the system to do we need to reuse it.

ANSWER: The exis pipe size remains the same for the new Condensing Unit.

5. QUESTION: The specs call for routing the new refrigerant piping from the existing roof penetration to new remote condensing unit. This is assuming that the existing refrigernat piping sizes are large enough to accommodate the new remote condensing unit. Please advise.

ANSWER: If the new Remote Condensing Unit requires a different refrigeration pipe size, the old refrigeration piping will need to be demoed and new properly sized refrigeration piping will properly sealed. Insulation covering the new refrigeration piping on the roof which is exposed to the elements shall be wrapped with an aluminum jacket as stated in the Scope of Work.

6. QUESTION: Since the existing rooftop refrigeration condensing unit is feeding several units and it is active. Does the condenser coil that feed the reefer box has a separate condeser coil from the rest of the systems or does they have a common condenser coil. Please advise and confrim.

ANSWER: All systems in the existing Rooftop Condensing Unit ser coils.

7. All other terms and conditions remain unchanged.
