HVAC System Requirements
Modify the existing HVAC system to serve the new room layout. This is to be accomplished by utilizing the existing water source heat pumps without providing any additional capacity and redistributing that capacity by modification of the air distribution system (ductwork, volume dampers, air devices, etc.) as needed. Provide ductwork and air devices to support these modifications.
Reuse existing ductwork and air devices only where it does not compromise the system performance.
Mechanical DOR must provide calculations to determine how best to redistribute capacity and airflow. Perform load calculations for all rooms in the area of work. Base new air systems layout on redistribution of available cooling capacity and airflow. Ventilation calculations are not required.
Assume ventilation requirements to be met by the existing systems.
It is anticipated that the air distribution systems of three rooms (315, 316, 319) may require extensive modifications because of the higher concentration of people and heat load. However, modifications are not to be limited to these rooms, as air/capacity may need to be “borrowed” from the rooms with lower loads. Redirect air/capacity from the lower load rooms to the higher where needed and practicable.
