What is the existing inflitation rate of water for the dry dock and the pumpwell?

See Amendment

27 4 31 52 00 1.4.4.1.b Please provide more details on the system test.

What is the purpose of the test? What constitutes a successful test?

30 5 31 52 00 1.4.4.4

The specification requires that a responsible person continuously monitor the system. Does this require a physical presence 24/7 or will automated alarms be sufficient during off hours?

See Amendment

32 21-Oct 26 20 00 2.5.1.1

In section 26 20 00, page 10, subsection 2.5.1.1 of the specs, it clarify the minimum allowed conductor size for different systems. in addition, on page 21 of this section, subsection 3.1.3, the specs specify the minim conduit size is 1/2". Is up to the contractor to decide what size conduit and cable is necessary for each run? please clarify

03 31 29 1.8.2.2 (2)

Section 03 31 29 subsection 1.8.2.2 (2) requires that the required average strength is design per AC 301. ACI 301 requires the average compressive strength to 1200 psi greater that specified design strength. This results in a average compressive strength that is about 30% greater than there 4000 psi required. Subsection 1.8.2.2

(3) limits the average compressive strength to 20% more than the required concrete strength.

Please clarify.

03 31 29 3.4.8

Section 03 31 29 Subsection 3.4.8, requires the existing surfaces to be roughened to 1/4 in. full surface amplitude. Can this requirement be waived in confined spaces where the SCC is used to fill voids in existing structure?

Cross Sections of Dry Dock 4 showing concrete thicknesses and the horizontal locations of the flumes for Sluice Gate 6 and Sluice gates 1 & 2.

This information is needed to determine the work for sealing active leaks and to determine the best solution to place the SSC in the flumes. Cross Section at approximately 50 foot spacing would be very jhelpful.

Note calls for a construction barrier fence around limits of work, minimum 4' above grade. CS 504, Detail C1 shows a chain link fence detail. Is this what the contractor is expected to install? Do the posts need to be embedded in 3.5' in a concrete footing or can a movable base be used?

The majority of the boring locations listed on this page fall outside the limits of construction within the project. These borings show concrete beneath the asphalt pavement. Is the contractor to assume that the same condition can be found inside the limits of construction?

Bid per RFP

55 C-002 Design

Pack, 2A Note 10

Demo Note #10 says that "asphalt pavement has concrete base beaneath it that must be demolished". Can the Navy provide an area of concrete pavement demolition beneath the asphalt for the contractor to bid?

Bid per RFP

56 C-002 Design

Pack, 2A Note 10

Demo Note #10 says to "refer to boring logs for…thickness information" pertaining to concrete and asphalt demolition. These logs are outside the limits of construction. Should the contractor use these boring log thicknesses to determine the thickness of pavement to be demolished?

Due to the importance of this project, during the Industry Day discussion held for this project, it was discussed that a 14 calendar day government (& A/E) submittal review period should be feasible to help facilitate the schedule for this project. 28 calendar days for the review of all government (USG) approved submittals was deemed excessive for this project and 14 days should be plenty of time for the Navy to complete the submittals that required Government approval.

The 14 day review period will help the overall team (contractor, government, designer (A/E), and customer) ensure the overall success of the project in the timeline provided in NNSY's dry dock schedule. In a partnering effort, as discussed, will the government (USG) change the review period to 14 days in lieu of the standard 28 days?

3.5.2 Dewatering During Dry Dock/Pumpwell Renovations

Add the following to the end of Paragraph 3.5.2.d:

“The existing typical combined infiltration rate for Dry Dock 4 and the Dry Dock 4 pumpwell is estimated to be 1,500,000 gallons per day based on existing drainage/sump pump capacities and run times. This rate is not representative of additional infiltration that may occur during large precipitation or extreme tidal events.
