AMENDMENT #0002 09 September 2013
Re: Solicitation N40085-13-R-3537, DESIGN/BID/BUILD REPLACE ROOF, BLDGS 8 & 9, MECHANICSBURG, PA
Inquiry #1 The RFP clearly states that demolition is to be conducted off business hours. The plans also state that any roof removed is to be made watertight at the end of the work day. Is removal of the existing roof considered demolition?
Response: Yes, the demolition is the roofing removal and any other removals.
Inquiry #2 Section 09 90 00 paragraph 1.3 calls for the painter to be SSPC QP1 qualified. This qualification requirement does not seem necessary given the scope of this project and that due to the limited number of SSPC QP1 qualified painting firms the owner will be paying significantly more for the painting on this project. Will the SSPC QP1 qualification requirement be waived?
Response: Delete the requirement for SSPC QP1certified painters.
Inquiry #3 Drawing E102 Building 8 note 6 says to provide wall mounted ¾ conduits to replace 4 conduits removed from the existing steel framing. Is the electrical contractor supposed to re-use the existing wire in the conduits that are being removed from the steel framing, or is the electrical contractor to replace the wire in the conduits being removed, if so can you please clarify how many and what size wires that are to be installed for each of the new ¾ conduits we are to install?
Response: All exterior wiring and conduit shall be removed. Contractor shall assume 2-#8 and 1-#10 ground per new ¾” GRS conduit as is referenced in Note #3 on sheet E102.
