1 Scope The Navy Geothermal Program Office (GPO), EXWC PW68, at the Naval Air Weapons Station (NAWS) China Lake requires comprehensive annual fluid geochemistry analysis and Coso Hot Springs (CHS) monitoring reporting.

This contract will be defined as a base period contract, along with four option periods. The Contractor shall provide findings and recommendations in two separate detailed reports (one report for Task A) Fluid Chemistry, (one report for Task B) CHS Monitoring Program to the Government for each year of the contract. The Contractor shall provide findings and recommendations in a detailed report to the Government for each year of the contract. Refer to Attachment A, Contract Data Requirement List (CDRL).

Fluid Geochemistry The Contractor is required to perform in the following areas: updating fluid-geochemistry database, performing field health and fluid augmentation monitoring and analysis, and providing recommendations for geochemical sampling techniques and process at the Coso geothermal field located at Naval Air Station (NAWS), China Lake, CA. The purpose of this effort is to provide a geochemical expertise that the Navy does not possess internally, expertise that is critical component of the GPO’s program to protect the Navy’s equity in the Coso geothermal resource.

Coso Hot Springs Monitoring Program The Contractor is required to prepare yearly reports based on the CHS monitoring program. These reports will list and provide analysis from data collected from the CHS area. As we are one year behind, each report shall cover the data collected from the prior calendar year. Two separate reports will be due for the data collected during the period 2020-2021, and will be used for the contract base period 2021, and the data collected during the periods 2022-2025, and will be used for the contract option periods 2022-2026. Each annual report will encompass data that has been collected by GPO personnel and submitted to the Contractor.

2 Background GPO has required geochemical analysis as a tool to monitor field health and fluid augmentation at the Coso geothermal field. A fluid-geochemistry database as well as a time-trend analysis of indictor constituents is established and requires annual updates.

The CHS monitoring program was initiated by the US Navy’s GPO in 1978 to gather baseline data on the surface and near-surface thermal activity in and around the CHS. Prior years’ monitoring reports have expanded to include other active thermal surface features in the area, including the East Flank. The purpose of the yearly CHS monitoring reports is to document changes in the physical and chemical parameters and to gain insight into the geology and hydrology of the near surface geothermal activity in the CHS area. Establishing an unambiguous and quantitative baseline permits comparison of conditions over a period of multiple years.
