Subsystem B: Outboard camera cables

Subsystem C: Cameras

Subsystem D: Camera mounting brackets

3. Identification. A complete Video Camera System will consist of:

a. (1) AC-DC Power Supply per installed camera

b. Power and video distribution cables (permanently installed on host submarine) and/or distribution equipment to support all installed cameras

c. (1) Outboard cable to provide power to and video from each installed camera

d. (1) Forward Camera (per DDS), aft viewing, mounted on DDS

e. (1) Aft Camera (per Host Sub), forward viewing, mounted on deck of Host Sub

f. (1) Camera mount per installed camera

4. Referenced documents.

a. MIL-STD-1399, SECTION 300 – Military Standard - Interface Standard for Shipboard Systems, Electric Power, Alternating Current

b. MIL-STD-461 – Electromagnetic Emission and Susceptibility Requirements for the Control of Electromagnetic Interference

c. SS800-AG-MAN-010/P-9290 – System Certification Procedures and Criteria Manual for Deep Submergence Systems

d. MIL-STD-704 – Department of Defense Interface Standard, Aircraft Electric Power Characteristics

e. MIL-STD-1651A – Insert Arrangements for MIL-C-5015, MIL-C-22992 (Classes C, J, and R), and MIL-C-83723 (Series II) Electrical Connectors

f. S9510-AB-ATM-010 – Nuclear Powered Submarine Atmosphere Control Manual

g. MIL-STD-810 – Environmental Engineering Considerations and Laboratory Tests

h. MIL-HDBK-2036 – Preparation of Electronic Equipment Specifications

5. Subsystem A: Camera Power Supply.

A Camera Power Supply shall be 7 inches wide, 7 inches deep, and 2 inches tall. The power supply will be capable of mounting in an adapter assembly, which will mount two power supplies in an industry standard 19” rack mount enclosure of 2U (3.46 inches) height. The Power Supply shall be designed as a constant voltage unit, converting from shipboard Type I (115V AC, 60 Hz, ungrounded, as per Reference (a)) power to 24VDC, providing power to a camera, and capable of routing the video input from that camera to compatible monitors by way of “BNC” bayonet-type connections.

The Power Supply will be considered a Commercial Off-the Shelf (COTS) item, and many requirements are tailored with Minimal Acceptance guidance of Reference (h).

The Power Supply will adhere to the Type I, 1-phase test requirements of Reference (a).

The Camera Power Supply shall be tested and will conform to the electromagnetic interference and susceptibility limits of Requirements CE101, CE102, RE101, and RE102 of Reference (b), and to the Filtering standard for Navy use on submarines (Paragraph 4.2.2 of Revision F) of Reference (b), as applicable. Vendors with product that has previously undergone testing to Reference (b) are encouraged to submit this data in consideration that some testing of the final assembly may be waived.

The Power Supply shall operate satisfactorily in a DC magnetic field environment of 10 Oersteds (800 amperes per meter), with shielding being employed if necessary.

The Power Supply shall operate satisfactorily in an environment of up to 85% relative humidity.

The Power Supply should operate satisfactorily under testing for ship motion and attitude. This testing will consist of incline at the rate of 5 cycles per minute to 7 cycles per minute in one phase, to angles of 60 degrees on both sides of the vertical for a period of not less than 30 minutes. The test will then be repeated with the Power Supply reoriented 90 degrees to the plane in which the initial test was performed.

The power supply will then be oriented with an inclination of 15 degrees for not less than 15 minutes, to ensure that continuous operation can be maintained. Finally, the Power Supply will be rotated through the vertical to 15 degrees in the opposite direction and the test for continuous operation shall be repeated.

The Power Supply should provide satisfactory test results when tested for shock IAW Reference (g) Method 516.7 Procedure I – Functional Shock, and Procedure IV – Transit Drop. Vendor will provide a satisfactory means of testing IAW Reference (g).

The Power Supply shall contain no prohibited substance, and will adhere to the requirements of Reference (f).

Camera Power Supply Interfaces

Power Input The A/C input shall be single phase 115-120 VAC/60Hz in the format of one IEC 60320 C14 connector, located in the rear of the assembly. The interface to the Power Supply shall require no modifications to existing shipboard electrical power panels, circuit breakers, or cabling. The input to each power supply

UNCLASSIFIED Page 3 shall be interruptible with a rocker type switch, mounted on the front of the power supply. The input to each power supply shall be protected by a 2.0 Amp fast-acting fuse.

Indication The power supply will provide a means of indicating a “Power On” condition, either by red LED or by illumination of the rocker switch.

Output The DC power output shall be 24 +/-0.5 VDC, minimum power output capability of 40W, capable of withstanding an instantaneous current draw of up to 1.6A at 75 degrees C. The output shall be via a connector that mates with a MS3408DJ15A6P assembly. The insert shall be a 6S arrangement as per Reference (e). The output connector shall be located on the rear of the assembly.

The pinout of each connector shall be:

Pin A: Common/Video Shield

Pin B: Video Input (from camera)

Pin C: +24 VDC Output (to camera)

The video output shall be a female “BNC” type coaxial connector on the rear of the power supply. The body/shield of the BNC connector shall be at the same electrical potential as Pin A of the DC output connector.

Quality For consideration as a supplier to the US Navy for this component, organizations submitting information for this power supply must show evidence of a quality control system IAW or similar to ISO 9001. This includes:

- Control of Documents

- Control of Records

- Internal Audits

- Control of Nonconforming Product/Service

- Corrective Action

- Preventive Action
