About this file
This document is a request for specification clarification regarding tow wire socket renewal work aboard the USNS GRASP (T-ARS 51). The clarification addresses questions about whether there is a current procedure for performing a pull test of the tow wire onboard the vessel and confirms that previous contractors have proposed and executed their own onboard test procedures. It also notes that an ashore pull test would be satisfactory if the contractor cannot accomplish the work onboard. The related federal contract opportunity is for fiscal year 2022 repair and drydock work for the USNS GRASP, to be awarded by the Department of the Navy's Military Sealift Command.
