About this file
This document contains clarification questions and answers regarding a solicitation for maintenance work on USNS GRASP (T-ARS 51) during its Fiscal Year 2021 mid-term availability. The solicitation was issued by the Department of the Navy's Military Sealift Command. One question sought clarification on Work Item 202 for clutch maintenance, as the original specification also included inspection of the reduction gear by a separate OEM. The answer revised Work Item 202 to specify only clutch maintenance. A second question asked for details on gauges requiring calibration under Work Item 561, and the answer referred to an attachment listing guidance on replacement and calibration requirements in Section 7.8.

USNS GRASP (T-ARS 51) FY21 MTA
REQUEST FOR SPECIFICATION CLARIFICATION
Question #3
SPECIFICATION ITEM NO.: WIs 202 and 561
QUESTION:
Request clarification on Work Item 202. We contacted the OEM for a quote and they stated that MSC had contracted them direct, please see email below.
Also, Item- 561, is for gage calibration but the reference/enclosure in the specification is blank. We will need a detailed list of the gages to be calibrated/renewed for bidding purposes.
ANSWER:
Initially Work Item 0202 was written to accomplish maintenance of clutched and inspection of reduction gear which have two separate OEMs. MSC coordinated with Reduction Gear OEM to accomplish inspection prior to MTA. The attached Revision of Work Item 0202 only specifies the requirement to accomplish maintenance of the clutches and not the reduction gear.
Please see Enclosure 2.2.1 for Work Item 0561. Please note guidance for which gauges require replacement and calibration on Section 7.8.
