1.0 ABSTRACT

This item describes the installation of upgraded light emitting diode (LED) lighting equipment in the OP 4 storerooms to provide sufficient illumination in which to work and to eliminate the shadows caused by grating structure.

3.0 ITEM LOCATION

3.1 LOCATION/QUANTITY/DESCRIPTION:

3.1.1 Location – The following six (6) OP 4

storerooms are affected in this modification:

01-42.5-1 01-44.5-1 01-46.5-2 01-41-2 2-77-2 2-77-01

3.1.2 Quantity – A total of 42 existing

fixtures are replaced with a total of 20 new fixtures.

3.2.1 Quantity: The Contractor shall provide

additional material such as miscellaneous fittings, busswork, cable hangers, fasteners, insulation, cable, etc. which are not included in the List of Materials, in order to install a fully functional system which meets the requirements of this specification.

4.0 GOVERNMENT_FURNISHED EQUIPMENT/MATERIAL/SERVICES:

4.1 Government Furnished Material

• 4.1.1 20 EA PART NO. LLS360-25-40-LV L.E.D.

5.0 NOTES:

5.1 The contractor and all subcontractors, regardless

of tier, must consult the General Technical Requirements (GTR) to determine applicability to this work item. In performance of this work item, the contractor and all subcontractors, regardless of tier, must comply with the requirements of all applicable GTRs, including, but not limited to, GTRs 1 through 7, 22, 24, 25, 26, 28, and 29.

5.2 The contractor and all subcontractors regardless

of tier are advised to review other work items under this contract, to determine their effect on the work required under this work item.

5.3 NOTE: All work is to be performed with equipment

designed to ensure these storerooms maintain their environmental ratings.

5.4 All Electrical work shall be performed in

accordance with ABS, USCG, UL, and IEEE.

5.5 All shipboard structure, hull insulation, sheathing, etc. damaged or disturbed by these

0360 - 3 modifications shall be repaired similar to the original or surrounding materials. All disturbed surfaces shall be repaired utilizing approved methods maintaining the water tight, fire tight, or smoke tight integrity of the bulkheads, decks or equipment.

5.6 Minor deviations from the drawings are authorized

if appearance, function and strength are not impaired.

5.7 This ship contains High Voltage (HV) electrical

systems. The contractor and subcontractors shall obey all posted and verbal instructions regarding safety and exclusion from High Voltage areas. At no time shall a contractor or subcontractor approach, work on, or enter a High Voltage area without proper authorization.

5.8 THE USNS LEWIS AND CLARK CLASS ELECTRICAL COLOR

CODING DOES NOT FOLLOW CONSISTENT COLOR SCHEME. THE

SHIP IS KNOWN TO HAVE CURRENT CARRYING CONDUCTORS

COLORED GREEN, BLUE, BLACK AND WHITE. THE CONTRACTOR

SHALL ASSUME ALL ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE HOT UNTIL

TESTED OTHERWISE. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL TEST ALL

ELECTRICAL CABLES TO ENSURE THEY ARE DEAD PRIOR TO

WORKING ON THE ITEM.

6.0 QUALITY ASSURANCE REQUIREMENTS: All work performed

shall be to the satisfaction of the Port Engineer and Chief Engineer.

7.0 STATEMENT OF WORK REQUIRED

7.1 Arrangements/Outfitting: None additional

7.2 Structural: None additional

7.3 Mechanical/Fluids: None additional

7.4 Electronic – None additional

7.5 Electrical –

7.5.1 Removals: Remove all existing overhead

lighting fixtures using references 2.1 through 2.3 as guidance. The removed fixtures should be turned over to Ship’s Force for disposition. Retain the pre-punched mounting plates for possible reuse.

7.5.2 Install: Install new lighting

fixtures as follows:

(a) In Storeroom 01-42.5-1: Install 4-fixtures in the overhead above the aluminum grating, each centered in the space between access door and back bulkhead in a straight line and equally spaced between port and starboard space bulkheads

(b) In Storeroom 01-44.5-1: Install 4-fixtures in the overhead above the aluminum grating, each centered in the space between access door and back bulkhead in a straight line and equally spaced between port and starboard space bulkheads

(c) In Storeroom 01-46.5-2: Install 4-fixtures in the overhead above the aluminum grating, each centered in the space between access door and back bulkhead in a straight line and equally spaced between port and starboard space bulkheads

(d) In Storeroom 01-41-2: Install 4-fixtures in the overhead above the aluminum grating, each centered in the space between access door and back bulkhead in a straight line and equally

0360 - 5 spaced between port and starboard space bulkheads

(e) Storeroom 2-77-2: Install 2- fixtures in the overhead above the aluminum grating, utilizing current lighting luminaire mounting bracket system. In the overhead above the aluminum grating, each centered between the access door bulkhead and the back bulkhead in a straight line and equally spaced between the other space’s bulkheads.

(f) In Storeroom 2-77-01: Install 2-fixtures in the overhead above the aluminum grating, each centered between the access door bulkhead and the back bulkhead in a straight line and equally spaced between the other space’s bulkheads.

7.6 Preparation of Drawings/Documentation –

The contractor shall red-line markup drawings of references 2.1 through 2.3 to reflect the new equipment/ arrangement details accomplished.

Submit Hard copy and Electronic (PDF) copy of red-line drawings to MSCREP.

7.7 Inspection/Test –

7.7.1 Perform an enclosure ground-safety

test. Resistance to ground (ship's structure) shall not exceed a value of 0.01 ohms when measured with a calibrated volt-ohm meter.

7.7.2 Operational test shall be performed

using a calibrated light meter as witnessed by the local Port Engineer and/or the ship’s chief engineer (CHENG). An acceptable light

0360 - 6 output reading of a minimum of 10 FC at a distance of 30 inches above the deck with the ceiling gratings installed shall be provided. Room corners shall only require a 5 FC level due to inherent shadowing from the ceiling grates.

7.7 Painting –

Paint all disturbed surfaces to match surrounding surfaces.

7.8 Marking -

Ensure conductor (conductor tags) identification for all cables involved in the upgrade are present. In the appropriate lighting power distribution panels install nameplates, notices and markings for all modified lighting circuits.

7.9 Manufacturer Representative – None additional
