4.3
GOVERNMENT FURNISHED SERVICES (GFS):
4.3.1 Port Hueneme representative will provide technical support/guidance during the accomplishment of this work item.
5.0
NOTES:
5.1 The contractor and all subcontractors, regardless of tier must consult the General Technical Requirements (GTR) to determine applicability to this work item. In performance of this work item, the contractor and subcontractors regardless of tier must comply with the requirements of all applicable GTR’s including but not limited to GTR’s 1 through 7, 22, 23, 24, 27, 28 and 29.
5.2 The contractor and all subcontractors regardless of tier are advised to review other work items under this contract, including but not limited to Work Items 011, 013, 014 and 021, to determine their effect on the work required under this work item. Many of the definitions relating to performance of this work item are found in Work Item 001.
5.3 The following Contractor Furnished Material (CFM) list is provided for, but not limited to, accomplishment of this repair. Shipyard will provide the metal to replace the support brackets and foundation for cost estimating used 2,500 dollars just for the metal. The Contractor shall provide the exact quantities and additional material such as miscellaneous pipe fittings, elbows, caps, valves, pipe hangers, weld material, cable hangers, cable tags, busywork, etc., in order to install a fully functional system which meets the requirements of this specification.
6.0 QUALITY ASSURANCE REQUIREMENTS: None Additional
7.0
STATEMENT OF WORK REQUIRED:
7.1 Arrangement/Outfitting:
7.1.1 Any additional materials/parts required by the contractor to accomplish this work item not included in this specification shall be provided by the contractor and will be in accordance with Reference 2.1 and 2.2.
7.1.2 Foundation bolts will be provided by the contractor as follows: (Eight (8)) 1 ¾-5UNC Grade 5 bolts per station and (two (2)) fitted bolts of Grade 5 materials manufactured by the contractor.
7.2 Structural:
7.2.1 Any structural, weld build up and metal work required to bring the ASD foundations and ASD frames and body (ie shroud, cover, screen, patching, etc) will be provided by the contractor.
7.3 Mechanical/Fluids:
7.3.1 The contractor with ship’s force assistance will remove the wire rope from the stations and protect from damage.
7.3.2 Drain the oil from the ASD electric motor gear box.
7.3.3 Rig suitable lifting slings around the ASD assembly. Connect lifting slings to hoisting equipment. The ASD weights approximately 5,500 lbs.
7.3.4 Remove ASD foundation bolts, carefully hoist ASD assembly clear off foundation and convey to the shop.
7.3.5 Disassemble ASD assembly, including the fairlead sheave assembly in accordance with reference 2.1.
7.3.6 Disassemble adjustable sheave assembly and fairlead sheave assembly. (When reassembling adjustable sheave assembly, inform Port Hueneme representative for proper assembly procedure).
7.3.7 Clean by degreasing all ASD parts.
7.3.8 Remove bearings from sheave and thoroughly clean and polish sheave pins, inner shafts, outer shafts and bearing bores. Prove all grease passages open and free flowing.
7.3.9 Sandblast and mechanically clean interior and exterior surfaces of the body/housing, sheave housings, sheaves, plates, squeeze arm and shroud assembly to bare metal. Ensure that any open ports are plugged during sandblasting. Submit an as found condition report to MSCREP prior to priming and painting. Paint in accordance with reference 2.3. (Perform any metal work that is required to accomplish the work item).
7.3.10 Sandblast down to bare metal sheaves and visually inspect for defects. Employ 2 xs to 5x magnification as required to facilitate inspection. Sheaves with cracks greater in length than one half the materials at that location shall be considered defective and must be replaced. Smaller cracks shall be weld repaired to prevent further damage.
7.3.11 Remove ASD gear reducer and motor assembly, degrease and mechanically clean and preserved by painting. Separate gear motor from the gear reducer for motor work. Disassemble gear reducer, inspect, clean and reassemble using new bearings and seals.
7.3.12 Reassemble ASD assembly using new GFM furnished materials in accordance with reference 2.1
7.3.13 Convey ASD assembly from shop to ship.
7.3.14 Install ASD assembly on foundation using contractor provided eight (8) 1 3/4 x 5UNC, x grade 5 hex hd bolts and two (2) manufactured fitted bolts of grade 5 materials per station. Tighten bolts evenly and secure to a torque required in accordance with reference 2.1
7.3.15 Fill gear box with new gear oil and lubricate all bearing assembly in accordance with reference 2.1 lubrication charts.
7.3.16 Reinstall and slush winch wire rope upon completion of the work item.
7.4 Electrical:
7.4.1 Perform preliminary procedures in accordance with reference 2.1.
7.4.2 Disconnect gear box electric motor and blower electric motor electrical leads for removal of ASD from the foundation. Label and protect all leads.
7.4.3 Megger gearbox motor and blower motor and provide condition report to MSCREP.
7.4.4 Perform class “B” overhaul on the gear motor and fan motor by cleaning, dipping, baking, balancing and bearing replacement (motor bearing shall be provided by contractor) of the gear motor and fan motor.
7.4.5 Disassemble blower housing, perform preservation by mechanically blasting the casing, perform metal work as required to bring blower motor housing within specs.
7.4.6 Protect machine surfaces and mechanically clean, scale and or sandblast normally painted surface of the blower motor and gear reducer and motor assembly. Paint blower and gear reducer and motor assembly.
7.5 Electronics: None additional
7.6 Preparation of Drawings/Documentation: None additional
7.7 Inspection/Test:
7.7.1 Static load testing of the ASD will be perform in accordance with reference 2.1 and 2.3. Use dunnage to protect wire rope drum grooves, apply 50,000 pounds hoisting with crane hold for 10 Min.
Visually inspect winch. There shall be no evidence of structural damage or distortion to any part of the winch, foundation, or rigging system. (The structural integrity test may be waived if new bolts or inspected existing bolts are installed that meet the material specification required by the original equipment installation drawing.)
7.8 Painting:
7.8.1 Clean, prime and paint new and disturbed surfaces to match the surroundings.
7.8.2 Mechanically clean ASD foundation and surrounding area to bare metal and paint in accordance with reference 2.2., Pay close attention on the inside section of the foundations.
