About this file

This document contains questions and answers related to an Invitation for Bid (IFB) issued by the Southwest Georgia STEM Charter School for the purchase of a new modular building. The IFB is for a new, not used, modular building to house school-age children in grades kindergarten through 12th grade. A site visit is mandatory, and the winning bidder will need to provide the foundation design. The project is funded through a reimbursable grant, and no Davis-Bacon wages or reporting are required. The anticipated completion date is before the end of 2024.

The IFB does not require the contractor to provide furnishings or to handle utility connections, which will be the subject of a separate IFB. The contractor will need to provide a standard warranty for the modular building. This is a purchase, not a lease, and the modular building will be located in Sumter County, Georgia.

Is there a soils report available? If not, for bidding purposes should we assume the soil bearing capacity is 2,500 psf minimum?

What is the anticipated completion date?

As soon as possible, before the end of the year 2024.

Can you please clarify the following from the building specification? Did you mean 6”?

Yes, that should be 6”.

There will be a separate Invitation for Bid issued for utilities connections.

A ramp is required at each exterior door.

Optional footing pricing.

The winning bidder will need to provide the foundation design.

It is the contractor’s opinion that using earth anchors to anchor the complex directly to the ground would be the most cost-effective solution to the customer. Would this be acceptable?

The foundation design should provide proper anchoring design.

Much of this can potentially be determined during the site visit.
