About this file

This is a Scope of Work document prepared by the Illinois Department of Human Services for the removal and replacement of existing sidewalks at the Mabley Developmental Center located in Dixon, Illinois. The project involves constructing 5-inch thick Portland cement concrete sidewalks and accessibility ramps on prepared subgrade. The work requires a 4-inch compacted aggregate subbase, side forms of minimum 2-inch nominal dimension lumber or steel, and concrete placement in successive batches with hand vibrator consolidation and broom finish. Sidewalk panels shall measure between 4 and 6 feet in length, with typical panels measuring 5 feet by 5 feet, and must include edging with a radius edge and joints or saw cuts to specified depths. Curb ramps must comply with ADA standards and include detectable warning surfaces with truncated domes. Concrete curing shall utilize membrane curing compound, and all disturbed areas require topsoil, lawn seed, and fertilizer restoration. Each project phase must be completed sequentially unless otherwise approved by Mabley staff.

Materials specifications include IDOT State-approved PV/SI concrete mix and CA 6 or CA 10 gradation aggregate subbase material, with flexibility permitted regarding concrete spray cure types and lawn seed and fertilizer selections. Expansion joints measuring a specified thickness shall be placed between sidewalks and all structures. The document does not specify overall project costs, budget allocation, funding sources, response deadlines, site visit requirements, or bidders' conference details, indicating this represents the technical specifications component of a larger invitation for bid.
