About this file

This document is a product specification bulletin from Lakeside Equipment Corporation for their Septage Acceptance Plant, a specialized wastewater treatment equipment solution. The bulletin details a self-contained, fully automated unit designed to remove debris and inorganic solids from municipal, industrial, and septic tank sludges. The Lakeside Septage Acceptance Plant features a stainless steel tank, flow control inlet valve, Lakeside Fine Screen, screenings wash system, and a control panel for manual or automatic operation. The unit can process a typical 3,000-gallon tanker with up to 3 percent solids in less than 10 minutes, with a unique screening and compaction process that reduces volume by 50 percent and weight by 67 percent.

The product offers several optional features, including a security access system with PIN code access, flow metering for billing, automatic sampling, data reporting, and an Automated Data Acquisition System. The Fine Screen is a key differentiator, with bar spacing ranging from 1/4 to 1/2 inches and a unique rake design that fully penetrates the screen bars to remove grease, rags, and hair. The system is designed for indoor or outdoor installation, with options for insulation, heating, and trailer mounting. The bulletin emphasizes the unit's efficiency, enclosed operation to reduce odors, and stainless steel construction for durability and long life.

APPENDIX F

Lakeside Septage Acceptance Unit

Lakeside Septage Acceptance Plant I

Many wastewater treatment plants process municipal, industrial and septic tank sludges that contain debris and inorganic solids such as hair, plastics, grease and hygienic materials. If not removed, this debris can negatively impact downstream equipment by creating scum and clogging pumps and valves thereby decreasing the effectiveness of aeration, dewatering and filtering equipment.

Lakeside's Septage Acceptance Plant is a self-contained, fully automated unit designed to reinove debris and inorganic solids that typically pass through a treatment plant's conventional bar screen. The Lakeside Septage Acceptance Plant is a simple, efficient way to pretreat the increasing amount of municipal, industrial and septic tank sludges processed by wastewater treatment plants. The Lakeside Septage Acceptance Plant consists of a stainless steel tank, a flow control inlet valve, a Lakeside Fine Screen, a screenings wash system and a control panel for manual or automatic operation.

Screens and Processes The Fine Screen Design Sets Lakeside Apart The Fine Screen's bar spacing ranges fiom 1/4 to 1/2 inches (5 to 12 i m ) to reinove solids that pass through conventional screens. When a special application such as scum removal from primary clarifiers requires spacing narrower than 1/4 inch to remove fine solids, a Wedge Section Screen can be used in place of the Fine Screen.

1 Above, Lakeside Fine Screen shown in Septage Acceptance Plant tank.

Shown at left, a Lakeside Wedge Section Screen can be

I used in place of the Fine Screen for special applications.

Debris is removed from the screening area by a rotating rake that passes through the full depth of the bars. The Lakeside heavy-duty 3-plane Fine Screen is the only screen on the market where the rake passes through the full depth of the basket bars.

Positive Screenings removal is accomplished by the heavy-duty rake design. Grease, rags and hair will not plug the Lakeside Fine Screen.

O Industrial and Septic Tank Sludges.

The rotating rake deposits the collected screenings into a central screw conveyor hopper that leads to the transport tube. Here the screenings are spray washed in two separate stages to return organic materials to the liquid stream. The first wash is located over the Fine Screen basket. The second wash takes place in the transport tube just before the compaction zone at the optimum point to wash organics back into the flow stream. The all stainless steel shafted screw conveyor transports the screenings to the discharge chute. When the debris drops into a storage container, the total solids content is typically greater than 40 percent and will pass the EPA paint filter test.

Screenings are compacted and dewatered to approxr-mately 40 percent solids, reducing volume by 50 percent and weight by 67 percent. thereby reducing disposal costs.

Above, the compaction zone access panel allows the operator to free obstructions without dismantling the unit.

All stainless steel construction makes Lakeside's Septage Acceptance Plant suifable for indoor or outdoor installation.

Lakeside Automated Data Acquisition System.

This is a software package with client and server components designed to advance a treatment plant's computer system to a higher level. The software retrieves information directly from the security access system and stores it in a database where it is then available for management .or billing over the plant's local area network.

The security software system allows the plant administrator to create and manage customer and truck setup, control sampling andlor access on a truck-by-truck basis. and assign permit numbers and access PINS from the office.
