About this file
This document is a Quality Assurance Requirements specification for First Article Test Plans and Reports (LPF-QAR-003) issued by the U.S. Air Force for F100 engine parts. The document establishes mandatory guidelines for contractors to prepare comprehensive test plans and reports verifying that first article components meet all contractual, engineering, and specification requirements before production begins.
The testing requirements encompass dimensional conformance including finish specifications, nondestructive inspections (FPI, ultrasonic, eddy current, X-ray, and visual), and material property verification across mechanical, metallurgical, and chemical parameters. All first articles must be serialized and undergo 100% dimensional inspection with measurements documented in tabular format including tolerances, actual readings, and instrument details. Nondestructive inspections must comply with LPR-QPR-018 and receive 100% inspection with no sampling permitted. Material testing must verify composition, heat treatment condition, and absence of defects; metallurgical microanalysis with photomicrographs is required for raw materials, welds, brazings, and coatings. Contractors must submit the First Article Test Plan (FATP) to the Contracting Officer per contract schedule using detailed descriptions rather than generalized instructions, and deliver the First Article Test Report (FATR) containing complete laboratory results from all testing conducted. Remnants from destructive testing and one article passing nondestructive testing must be delivered with appropriate packaging and marking as "UNSERVICEABLE - Condition Code R." All materials and manufacturing must comply with drawing requirements and referenced sub-tier specifications, with Engineering Instructions taking precedence over other technical instructions. Subcontractors for testing must be previously identified and OEM-approved; any changes to testing sources require OC-ALC/LPFR authorization.
