About this file

This is an analytical report submitted by FOH Environmental Laboratory to the USPHS Federal Occupational Health office, documenting environmental sampling results for the Lansing National Guard Bureau USPFO Annex facility in Lansing, Michigan. The report presents findings from ghost wipe sampling conducted to detect lead, cadmium, and chromium contamination at the facility, which relates to the planned renovation of Building 40 at the USPFO Warehouse. Samples were collected using OSHA ID-121 methodology and analyzed via hot plate digestion and flame atomic absorption spectrophotometry. Six wipe samples (laboratory numbers TM-13-60533 through TM-13-60538) were received on April 9, 2013, analyzed between April 12-15, 2013, and the results were issued on April 19, 2013.

All quality control criteria were met during the analytical process, with all samples received in acceptable condition for analysis. The results presented in the enclosed tables document concentrations of lead, cadmium, and chromium measured in micrograms (µg) and micrograms per square foot (µg/ft²) for each wipe sample. The laboratory confirmed that analytical results relate only to the items tested and have not been corrected for contamination based on field blanks or analytical blanks unless otherwise noted. This environmental assessment provides baseline contamination data necessary for planning and executing the renovation project at the facility.
