About this file

This is a Labor and Material Payment Bond template issued by the City of Jackson, Michigan, required for contractors bidding on municipal projects. The bond is mandated under Michigan Public Act No. 213 of 1963, as amended, and serves as a financial guarantee for work performed on City of Jackson contracts. The bond ensures that the principal contractor will pay all subcontractors, laborers, and material suppliers for work and materials furnished in connection with the contracted project. The document contains blank fields for the contractor's name, surety company information, bond amount, contract date, and contract description, with execution requiring authorized signatures from both the principal contractor and surety representative, along with a power of attorney attachment.

The bond operates as a conditional obligation wherein the surety and contractor remain jointly and severally liable for payment obligations regardless of any modifications, extensions, or alterations made to the underlying contract terms. The bond amount, contract specifications, and work scope are incorporated by reference as integral components of the bond agreement. The document does not address pricing terms, set-asides, or funding sources, as it functions solely as a payment guarantee instrument rather than a procurement document. Contractors and sureties executing this bond assume full liability for subcontractor and material supplier payments throughout the contract performance period without relief from changes or delays granted by the City.
