About this file
This draft request for proposal from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Langley Research Center seeks proposals for Inflatable Aerodynamic Decelerators. The solicitation anticipates awarding multiple indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contracts over an estimated 10-year period of performance to support three technical tracks of work: inflatable structures design, fabrication and testing; flexible thermal protection systems design, fabrication and testing, which is set aside for small businesses; and gas generator inflation system design, manufacturing and testing, also set aside for small businesses. Offerors may propose on all or some of the technical tracks for which they are eligible. The agency intends to award up to three contracts for the first track, two each for the small business set-aside tracks, but reserves the right to award up to six contracts for the third track. Comments from prospective offerors are sought on aspects including the period of performance, viability of the technical approach, potential conflicts of interest and achievement of subcontracting goals. The final request for proposal is expected in January 2022, with contract awards anticipated in September 2022 and a start date of November 2022.
