About this file
This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for repairing the cooling system in building 556 at Grand Forks Air Force Base. The primary objective is to rent a 55-ton chiller from 16 June 2025 to 03 November 2025 to address a failing cooling system that is insufficient for the building's new occupants. The contractor must provide and install the chiller, connecting it to the existing chilled water loop and power supply with 480v/3 ph/60 Hz electrical connection, using existing penetrations in the mechanical room.
Key requirements include placing the rental chiller in a specified laydown area without damaging landscaping, performing all necessary preventative maintenance, and coordinating maintenance visits with the government technical representative at least one week in advance. The contractor must also obtain all required permits, comply with base security regulations, obtain visitor passes, and be prepared to stop work and contact representatives immediately if any suspected hazardous materials are discovered during the project. The chiller must meet specific technical specifications, including maintaining a 10℉ temperature drop and 10' max head loss across the system, with a flow rate of 200 gpm.

2.1.1.1.1. Connect rental chiller to facility chilled water loop and power
2.1.1.1.1.1. Existing chiller power is available at the existing chiller shutoff switch. Use existing penetrations into mechanical room (See 18. Figure 3). Existing power is 480v/3 ph/60 Hz, on a 120A circuit breaker. Electrical connection point is within 50’ of chiller laydown location.
2.1.1.1.1.2. Connection to chilled water loop should be made inside the mechanical room. Use existing penetrations into mechanical room to connect at existing shutoff switch (see 18.
Figures 3 and 4). Existing chilled water loop uses grooved pipe and couplings, and has a 10℉ temperature drop and 10’ max head loss across the chiller. Existing chiller water system flow rate is 200 gpm. Chilled water connection points are within 50’ of chiller laydown location.
2.1.1.1.1.3. Place rental chiller in the location specified on the photos in 18. Figure 1. Avoid damaging landscaping. Contractor shall repair any damages made to landscaping during rental chiller placement and removal.
