4. NOTES:

a. Confirm with Owner and Consultant what cabling/equipment will remain prior to demolition. All existing cabling/equipment that will remain will be labeled and protected.

b. Existing equipment that will be reused will be deinstalled from the racks, labeled, packaged and shipped to the AV contractor’s shop for new rack fabrication by the AV contractor.

c. All equipment not being reused will be turned over to the Commonwealth for asset disposal. All other materials will be disposed of by the demolition contractor.

d. Where possible, install new cable for the project while pulling out existing cables to maximize efficiency.

e. Timing of demolition will be coordinated with the Owner to ensure that audio feeds from the building (including the appeals courts) to Courtsmart are maintained to the court’s servers (currently installed in the control room). The appeals courts need to be kept operational throughout the course of the project.

B. As a parallel project, new Courtsmart servers are being deployed and will need to be running prior to demolition occurring so that audio can be rerouted to the new server (over the Dante network).

The AVC will assist with these updated audio routes, including duplicating the existing Dante routes going to the existing Courtsmart server to the new Courtsmart server in Dante Controller and testing to ensure audio is passing.

C. AV1 - COURTROOM ONE

Courtroom One is a Seven Justice Courtroom with audio, video, and control systems. This is an existing system being upgraded as described below. The audio DSP hardware for Courtroom One was updated a year ago and will be reused.

1. Audio

a. All audio systems are being upgraded to digital.

b. All Justice microphones are being replaced. Each microphone will have an individual mute button at the base of the microphone. The microphone signals will connect to analog microphone to Dante interfaces. Logic signals to the mute button base will connect to an Owner-furnished logic expansion interface. All Dante and logic interfaces will be installed within the Justice bench and connect to the network.

c. A master mute button will be installed at the Chief Justice location in the vertical fascia of the bench. The mute button will connect to the network and be programmed to mute all microphones in the courtroom. The AV contractor will label the mute button with an engraved/silkscreened label (Kroy or similar labels will not be accepted).

d. The microphones at the clerk and interpreter stations will be replaced. The microphones will have an individual mute button at their base. The microphone signals will connect to a shared analog microphone-to-Dante interface. Logic signals to the mute button base will connect to a logic expansion interface. The Dante and logic interfaces will be installed under the clerk station and connect to the network.

A second microphone input at each station will be installed in an existing grommet

Audiovisual Systems 20 of 46 with an XLR connection inside a shock mount, connecting to the same Dante interface.

e. A master mute button will be installed at the clerk station in the vertical fascia of the bench. The mute button will connect to the network and be programmed to mute all microphones in the courtroom. This mute button will sync with the Chief Justice master mute button. The AV contractor will label the mute button.

f. The existing microphone and shock mount at the Appellate Station will be upgraded with two new microphones. These microphones will not have mute buttons. The microphones will be installed in shock mounts in existing grommets in the surface of the millwork and connect directly to a Dante interface under the surface. The AV contractor will install an additional microphone input plate inside the Appellate station millwork with two XLR inputs for temporary microphone connections. The cabling from the back of this wall plate will route through the millwork and exit near the top of the inside area to connect to the same Dante interface. The AVC will provide microphones, desk and floor stands, and XLR cables for use with this wall plate.

g. The existing microphone, shock mount and mute button at each Court Officer station will be upgraded. The new microphone will be installed in a new shock mount and will connect to a Dante interface under the surface. The Dante interface will connect to the network. A network mute button will be installed in the existing mute button hole and connect to the network. This mute button will be a local mute for the Court

Officer microphones and will only mute the two court officer microphones.

h. The AVC will remove existing EAO mute switches. All existing holes that are no longer used (e.g. mute button locations at Justice bench) will be filled with grommet covers, provided by the AVC.

i. An updated infrared assistive listening system will be installed. New emitters will be installed in the existing location of the current ALS emitters. The emitters will connect to a rack unit in the control room, which will be fed by a Dante channel. The

ALS system needs to reproduce all microphone audio. When the system is in all mute by the justice or clerk, no audio should go to the ALS system. The AVC will provide the necessary accessories (receivers, headphones, neck loops, chargers) as well as ensure ALS signage is installed in the room (final location determined by the Owner).

The accessories will be stored/charged in the control room.

2. Video

a. All video systems are being upgraded to 4K.

b. New cameras will be installed in the existing front and rear camera recesses and in the ceiling. The camera in the right side camera recess will be removed and this location will be abandoned.

1) In the front recess, the AVC will install the camera upside down and use a pole mounting method to position the camera to view the appellate station through the opening in the recess. The camera will be powered using a PoE++ injector and will connect to the network for control. The

AVC will provide 12G-SDI cabling from the camera to the control room system. Two adjustable extension columns are specified – the AVC will confirm in the field the correct height needed to position the camera correctly.
