RFI quesons
4/23/24
J&B Builders has the following quesons on the bid for this project:
1. The request for proposal we received ends with “page 7 of 8”. Please verify if there is a page
8 of 8 in the RFP. This should have shown 7 of 7 pages, there is no page 8
2. On note 2/A3 the plans menon “no base”. Will Fermi Lab be pung base on the new walls since the exisng to remain walls have base? There should be base, match exisng, 4” Black Rubber Cove Base.
3. In the area where the 2” concrete topping is being removed, are there details of how the exisng to remain columns are supported? Are they resng on the concrete or do they extend to the beam below? I have no drawing, but the post should extend all the way down. Contractor to extend casing to the floor.
4. Will an alternate of keeping the concrete floor topping and leveling the floor to eliminate the step down be considered? No, the concrete floor needs to be removed to meet future load requirements. See picture, but concrete sits on top of plywood, on top of decking. Concrete and plywood to be removed, decking to remain. 2 layers of ¾” T&G plywood to be installed above decking.
5. The window sizes shown on A3 do not correspond to the sizes on the floor plan. Please confirm the following windows: please see updated drawing for window sizes. NOTE: 1 new window locaon.
1-2 Window width scales to 5’ and schedule calls for 6.5’.
1-5 Window width scales to 72” and schedule calls for 18”.
1-6 Window width scales to 60” and schedule calls for 24”.
6. For the (4) windows shown on D3 to have new opening cut, are we to add the exterior red painted trim to surround them? Yes, for any new windows, please frame to match exisng.
7. What is the countertop material for the kitchen sink? Solid surface? Is it to be supported with a cabinet underneath? Countertop to be laminate, like exisng counter. Sink to be supported by a sink base cabinet.
8. Item 2L in the SOW menons to patch and paint 2nd floor. The exisng to remain drywall ceiling is not taped at the large open area and shows the cracks. Please specify if we are to include the cost to tape it, and if so are we to remove the exisng light fixtures/conduit to get a proper finished ceiling? Ceiling to remain untouched. Just patch and paint all vercal walls/surfaces.
9. There is no menon of work to the exisng sprinklers. Confirming that Fermi Lab be relocang them to accommodate the new wall locaons. No work to be done on exisng sprinklers.
10. There is no menon of work to the HVAC supply line. Confirming that there is no work to that line. No work to be done on HVAC Supply line.
11. Will the exisng free standing cabinets, equipment and shelving be removed by Fermi Lab prior to the start of construcon? All freestanding cabinets, equipment and shelving will be removed by FRA prior to start of construcon.
12. Drawing E3 menons data drops by onsite personnel. Does that include the conduit also or do we need to include that in our bid? This does include conduit/raceways.
13. There is no menon of relocaon of exisng light fixtures to accommodate the new wall layout. Please confirm the lights remain as is. Lighng to remain in place, however a switch and occupancy sensor will need to be added to the Storage room, Manager Office, and Supervisor Offices.
14. Atached is a picture of exterior ductwork. Does this bid include any work to this? If so, please specify what is removed since it also connects with level 1. No work is needed to be done to this.
It is for the dust collecon that is housed in the table in the atached picture.
