ANSWER 1: Delete bulkhead and Pier 2 quantities shown in Notes on Sheet 2 of 16 of the drawings; Quantities listed shall not be used for bidding purposes. Bidders shall calculate the quantities required to perform all work necessary to comply with solicitation plans and specifications.
QUESTION 2: Grout Fill - Sheet #2 notes for grout fill does not specify products recommended for this use nor a product listed on the qualified construction materials list of Mass DOT. Please advise.
ANSWER 2: On Sheet 2 of 16 under the notes for Grout Fill, add the following note 4: Grout shall be a product specifically produced for filling voids under pavement using the means and methods as selected by the contractor. Submit to the Contracting Officer the manufacturers product literature and installation instructions. The Submittal Register for Specification Section 01 33 00, shall include this as a preconstruction submittal for "Grout".
QUESTION 3: Sheet 14 notes wale splice connection at bent 18.5 requires a connection to existing steel fabricated member and references photo A-3. Photo A-3 is unclear as to what is required for this connection. Please advise.
ANSWER 3: The splice connection referenced is the connection at the interface of the new wale and wale remaining in-place (See Sheet 3 of 16, Detail A1 Pier 2 Framing Plan). Detail A3 on sheet 13 is a plan view of this butt type connection. The "steel fabricated member" is the existing butt connection.
