About this file
This document is a material specifications exhibit for plastic film bales organized into four grade categories based on purity and composition requirements.
A Grade Plastic Film requires bales containing at least 97% clean, dry, clear stretch/shrink film or clear polyethylene bags, with less than 3% allowance for colored, printed, or labeled materials and HDPE/LDPE bags. Black film is prohibited. B Grade Plastic Film permits 90% minimum clean, dry clear film with up to 10% colored film and other allowable materials. C Grade Plastic Film allows 85% minimum clean, dry clear film with up to 15% colored film and other materials. Mixed Color Plastic Film contains less than 50% clear stretch/shrink film and more than 50% clean colored film and LDPE bags, and is the only grade that may include plastic strapping.
All grades share common exclusionary requirements: no moisture, no PVC or PVDC films, no trash, food products, bottles, loose paper, or corrugated materials, no strapping twine or tape within bales, no wood or pallet pieces, no Polystyrene/Polyurethane foams/Polypropylene/PET, no oil or grease, no hazardous materials or medical wastes, and no aluminum cans or metal. Attached paper labels are acceptable in A Grade only if not excessive. All bales must be dry, and contamination thresholds decrease with lower grade classifications.
