Skid Mount Portable Tower

Q&A Set 3

23 June 2020

Q1: What is the wattage of the generator that provides the 110VAC?

A1: The Government utilizes three types of generators: 2K, 3K, and 7.5k.

Q2: Understand this will be in Virginia and that the tower will be up most of the year, only to be brought down for maintenance. The requirements say no guy wires, or guy too outriggers. Is there a wind speed at which point the tower would be lowered (not moved) and if so, what would that be? Really has to do with a period of heavy winds like a hurricane or tropical storm which can affect the east coast.

A2: The Government will be able to lower it at any time. Training is restricted to no more than 25kts sustained. The antenna mast is usually lowered if winds are in excess of 40kts.

Q3: Can the tower by tubular pneumatic mast rather than a triangular lattice tower?

A3: A triangular tower is required.
