SITE TOUR SPECIFICATION HIGHLIGHTS

The following portions of the specs were highlighted during the sight tour, however all portions of the specifications bare equal weight.

1. Section 01110. 1.1.A. Description. There are 346 new cables which means there are 346 cables that need replacement. There are 64 additional cable locations to be added. The total of all runs to have new cable is 410.

2. Section 01110.1.1.A. Description. The Contractor shall move all furniture covering work locations and return the furniture before the start of each Park Service work day.

3. Section 01110. 1.1.C. Extent of Work. It is essential that the Contractor be aware that a parallel cable plant be maintained so that Park service employees are provided with continuous service.

4. Section 01110.1.1.G. Onsite Supervisor Requirements. The onsite supervisor meeting the technical requirements of 01110.1.1.F. must be onsite at least 75% of the time.

5. Section 01110. 1.3.1 &2 &3. These are submittals that must be submitted with your proposal. The other specifications listed are required after award only.

6. Section 01110. 1.6.A. Cable tray locations shown on drawings are shown as a starting point. This does not mean that the cable trays have to begin or end at these locations, it just means that this is the basic conceptual plan of the Government. The Contractor shall provide their own cable tray location and design to provide an overall structured cabling system that meets the technical requirements of this specification.

7. Section 270500. 1.2. Testing. The Contractor shall ensure that they have the capabilities and knowledge to meet the testing requirements.

8. Section 271100.1.1.D through H. These are critical sections that define what tasks the Government will perform and what tasks the Contractor is expected to perform in the Equipment Room.

9. Section 271500.1.1.F. & G. These two sections provide a description of the areas that require plenum cable and those that require non plenum cable. The Contractor shall also reference the building section on sheet 4 to help clarify what spaces have what rating.

10. Section 271500.1.1.H. Existing Cable Drops and Boxes. This section addresses re-pulling cable with surface mount boxes. The Contractor is expected to convert these to flush mount, unless the Contractor can demonstrate that flush mount is not possible. Each box will be determined on an individual basis as work progresses and the Contracting Officers Representative will make the final decision.

11. Section 271500.1.1.I. Additional Cable Drops and Boxes. This section has the requirements for flush mount boxes as the previous for the additional cable locations.

12. Section 271500.3.3.C.2. Open-Cable Installation. The Contractor shall ensure that they meet this requirement for cables not located in cable trays, which requires that UTP cable must be suspended a minimum of 8 inches above ceilings by cable supports not more than 60 inches apart.

13. Section 271500.D. Separation. This section is critical that the Contractor insure they meet the separation distances required in this section for their cable trays and individual cable runs.
