PART 1 - GENERAL
1.1 Project Overview
Canyonlands National Park requires the rehabilitation of its data and telephone cabling at its
Headquarters (HQ) office in Moab Utah. This building is one level, with drop ceilings in the main office area and various ceilings in the warehouse. The total building footprint is 35,063 square feet. In the Office Area the existing cabling lies on top of the suspended ceiling in the return air space and then typically runs vertically through ¾” conduit down to each box through sheet rocked walls. Work in the Office Area will require installing new cable trays
(approximately 582 lf) above the suspended ceiling, moving and replacing office furniture to access boxes, removal of existing cabling, and re-using existing wall boxes and existing conduit drops and providing new Cat 6 plenum cable, face plates and jacks. Work will also include installation of new cable outlet locations as shown on the drawings. Work in the
Warehouse Area will require new wall mounted trays (approximately 281 lf); installation of new Cat 6 cable in existing conduit, and moving of furniture and equipment as necessary to access the work. New cable outlets will also be added in the Warehouse area. The total project will require 346 new cables be pulled and 64 additional cables be added, for a total of
410 new cables. The equipment room will require approximately 60 lineal feet of new heavy duty cable tray, 10 patch panels and 3 new equipment racks. Several wall penetrations will require firestops. Testing of all installed cabling components is required. All work of this contract will require that the HQ building remain operational to all employees during standard work hours from 7 am to 5:30 pm Monday thru Friday. During the standard work hours all employees shall have functional computer and telephone service at their normal work stations. No work shall be performed in the Office Areas during standard work hours, except the equipment room. The Contractor is expected to work nights and weekends, and has exclusive access to the building on the weekends. Work can be performed in the warehouse area anytime as long as service is not disrupted during standard work hours.
