SECTION 02 83 33 - REMOVAL AND DISPOSAL OF LEAD-CONTAINING PAINT

PART 1 – GENERAL

1.1 SUMMARY

The Convent LPOE Building was originally constructed in the 1940’s and was renovated in the 1980’s. The two-story structure is approximately 20,000 square feet in size. PSI conducted an asbestos and lead-based paint survey in June 2012. PSI developed these specifications for remediation of intact and damaged (poor) exterior and interior surfaces coated with lead-based paint as part of this project.

1. Refer to attached Appendix C-1 at the end of this specification for known locations and existing conditions (poor/intact) of lead based paints. The General Contractor shall field verify all lead-based paint conditions.

2. It is intended that Lead-based paint indicated as “intact” condition will remain as existing and shall be stabilized with new paint in accordance with the room finish schedule and painting specification.

Stabilized lead-based paint will still be required to meet the reference guidelines included in this specification.

3. Lead-based paint indicated as “poor” condition will be removed from the buildings, related structures and site in accordance with this specification.
