– 6” uniformly graded smooth “river rock” accent rock mulch throughout the entire existing development of the 700 and 800 series houses. Areas to receive new rock mulch include all front yards, side yards, between houses, between carports, in public/common spaces and in the parkways (the areas between the street/curb and the sidewalks. The only areas that will not require new rock mulch are the fenced-in backyards of the houses.

2. New rock mulch must match all of the existing rock mulch attributes and specifications including quality, color, aggregate size/fineness, grading, rock type, etcetera.

Mockups/samples of rock mulch must be delivered to the project site and placed in small areas of the development so that GSA and CBP can compare the samples with the existing mulches to determine proper matching of existing materials. Contractor may only order, deliver and place new rock mulch after approval of mockups/samples by GSA and CBP.

3. Prior to placing any rock mulch, Contractor must remove all green metal edging except the edging surrounding back yards, edging that is along fence lines, and edging that is containing the large, smooth, “river rock” rock mulch.

4. New fine/crushed gravel “red” and “brown” rock mulch must be placed to a depth/thickness so that the new mulch is graded, compacted and raked flat and smooth and the depth/height of the mulch is even with the elevation of the tops of the sidewalks, driveways and curbs, and concrete rainwater gutters. In other words, the new crushed gravel rock mulch must cover the vertical sides/edges of the sidewalks, driveways, curbs and concrete rainwater gutters.

5. New river-rock rock mulch must be placed to a depth/thickness so that the river rock is 1”

– 2” higher than the tops of sidewalks, driveways and green metal edging.

The color transitions must be straight – not crooked or jagged.

7. All areas of damaged weed control fabric must be repaired.

8. New soil fill must be brought in, placed and compacted where significant erosion has occurred.

9. Areas that require soil fill to fill in eroded areas must have either new weed control fabric or the existing weed control fabric must be peeled back and placed over the top of the new fill. Existing weed control fabric may only be reused if it is completely intact and serviceable.

10. Contractor is responsible for measuring the areas and volumes of required new soil fill and rock mulch to ensure complete and adequate coverage as described above.

11. Contractor must thoroughly clean up all work areas after this task is complete.
