About this file

This is an Insurance Requirements document issued by the City of Meriden, Connecticut, establishing mandatory coverage standards for contractors and vendors engaged in city contracts. The document specifies minimum insurance coverages that must be maintained throughout the contract period, including General Liability with limits of $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 aggregate, Auto Liability of $1,000,000 combined single limit, Umbrella/Excess Liability of $1,000,000 per occurrence, and Workers' Compensation at statutory limits with Employers' Liability coverage of $1,000,000 per accident, disease per employee, and disease policy limit. The City of Meriden must be named as an Additional Insured on a primary and non-contributory basis for all policies except Workers' Compensation, and all policies must include a Waiver of Subrogation. Original Certificates of Insurance must be submitted to the City prior to contract issuance, with replacement or renewal certificates provided at least 30 days before policy expiration dates.

All insurance policies must be written with carriers approved in Connecticut and maintaining a minimum AM Best's rating of "A-"VIII. If any policy is issued on a "Claims Made" basis, continuous renewal is required for a minimum of two years from the contract completion date, with any policy replacement or retroactive date change requiring an endorsement extending the reporting period for claims through the two-year post-completion period. Contractors and vendors must provide written notice to the City of Meriden within 30 days of any policy cancellation, limit reduction, or coverage alteration to ensure continuous compliance with contractual insurance obligations.
