About this file

This is an Insurance Requirements document for the City of Meriden, Connecticut, establishing mandatory coverage standards for contractors and vendors engaged in municipal contracts. The City of Meriden requires all contractors to maintain comprehensive insurance throughout the contract duration, including General Liability coverage of $1,000,000 to $2,000,000, Auto Liability of $1,000,000, and Umbrella/Excess Liability coverage. Workers' Compensation must meet statutory limits with Employers' Liability coverage of $1,000,000 per accident, per employee, and policy limit. All policies must be issued by carriers rated "A-"VIII or higher by AM Best and approved in Connecticut. The City of Meriden must be named as an Additional Insured on a primary and non-contributory basis on all policies except Workers' Compensation, and all policies must include a Waiver of Subrogation. Original Certificates of Insurance must be submitted prior to contract issuance, with renewal certificates due at least 30 days before policy expiration. Contractors must provide 30 days' written notice to the City of Meriden of any policy cancellations, limit reductions, or coverage alterations.

For claims-made policies, continuous renewal is required for a minimum of two years following contract completion, with retroactive date changes requiring an endorsement extending the reporting period for the duration of the original contract plus two additional years. These insurance requirements apply to the City of Meriden's B026-33 Hubbard Park Pool Filtration System project, a competitive bid for comprehensive pool filtration infrastructure refurbishment valued at approximately $2,243,250.00. The project requires bidders to maintain the specified insurance minimums throughout performance of the work, which includes installation of new filtration equipment, piping systems, and associated infrastructure at the municipal pool facility. No exceptions or waiver provisions are identified in the insurance requirements document.
