About this file
The documents are technical plans and specifications for the Tarpon Street Pier Replacement Project for the City of Fort Myers, Florida, prepared by HWA (Hans Wilson & Associates), a marine engineering and environmental consulting firm. The project involves replacing an existing pier located at 715 Tarpon Street along the Caloosahatchee River, with comprehensive details for a new fixed dock structure. The proposed pier will include a 6'x435' main access dock, a 17.6'x20' observation pier, and a 7' transition section, all to be constructed in the existing footprint. The design includes nine solar-powered LED lighting assemblies, specific wood and composite materials, and detailed structural specifications for pilings, decking, and railings.
The project includes technical specifications for materials and construction methods, with specific requirements for Southern Yellow Pine pilings treated with Chromate Copper Arsenate, High-Density Polyethylene pile wrapping, and composite decking materials. Fire protection plans are integrated, following NFPA 14 and NFPA 303 standards, with provisions for a manual dry standpipe system, hose connections, and a fire department connection. The project has received necessary permits, including a FDEP Permit (File No. 0200694-002 EE) and is qualified for a State Programmatic General Permit with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The technical specifications outline detailed requirements for construction methods, material standards, turbidity management, and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
