About this file

The document is an Affidavit Regarding Labor and Services from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), effective July 1, 2024, mandating that nongovernmental entities provide a signed affidavit when executing, renewing, or extending contracts with governmental entities. The affidavit requires the nongovernmental entity to attest, under penalty of perjury, that they do not use coercion for labor or services as defined in Florida Statutes 787.06(13). The related contract opportunity involves the City of Fort Myers seeking qualified respondents for a construction project to completely rebuild the Tarpon Street Pier and repair and restore the Riverside Pier and paddle craft launch.

The affidavit is a mandatory compliance document that must be completed by any nongovernmental entity entering into a contract with a governmental entity in Florida, focusing on preventing labor coercion. While the affidavit itself does not specify pricing, terms, or specific contract details, it is a required administrative step in the procurement process. The associated construction project for the City of Fort Myers represents a specific infrastructure improvement initiative targeting pier reconstruction and restoration, though precise project budget, timeline, and specific technical requirements are not detailed in this particular document.
