The U. S. Marshals Service (USMS), a component of the Department of Justice (DOJ), has approximately 7,500 employees and additional support contractors, using 15,000 devices, located in approximately 400 offices across the United States, its territories, and global federal offices. The USMS mission is to defend the Constitution of the United States through protection of the judiciary and the judicial process.
The United States Marshals Service (USMS), Information Technology Division (ITD) aids with Information Technology (IT) support, equipment and services for all United States Marshals Offices (USMO). Additional information on District offices is accessible via the Internet at (www.usmarshals.gov).
ITD is responsible for a mobile application which delivers access to information contained in Law Enforcement databases with the return of near real time investigative analysis information results, which enables on the spot decisions to clear or arrest subjects within seconds from inside a location without movement of the subject to a secured communications area, dramatically improving mission success and officer safety. ITD needs a way to purchase S.I.C Biometric devices and maintenance on an as needed basis by individual districts to support the mission.
