1. PACKING REQUIREMENTS: Block 1 shall always be completed and may be further defined in Blocks 2, 3, or 4. The term "Item ID" refers to line item number, item name, NSN/MMAC, or any other way of identifying a particular item. MIL-STD- 2073-1 represents Military Preservation (PRES) and Packing (PACK). Military packing consists of levels A and B. ASTM D3951 may be substituted by another document if specified in Block 2. Quantity Per Unit (QUP) is abbreviated.

B. Hazardous materials shall be prepared for shipment in accordance with the following applicable regulations for the individual shipment hazard, ultimate destination, and mode of transportation:

(a) Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Title 29, Part 1910.1200;

(b) Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Title 49;

(c) Air Force Manual (AFMAN) 24-204_IP, Preparing Hazardous Materials for Military Air Shipment;

(d) International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Technical Instructions for the Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air; and

(e) International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code.

D. The contractor shall mark the items or otherwise furnish notice with the items to show the existence of the warranty; its substance and duration; and the name, address, and telephone number of the person to notify if the items are defective in accordance with Warranty Terms and Conditions.

E. ISPM:

THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT IS IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE UNITED NATIONS-IMPLEMENTED RESTRICTIONS ON SOLID WOOD PACKING MATERIAL (SWPM). THIS REQUIREMENT IS SPECIFICALLY CONCERNED WITH INVASIVE SPECIES SUCH AS THE PINEWOOD NEMATODE. THE STATEMENT BELOW CITES THE REQUIREMENTS IN DETAIL AND COVERS LUMBER FOR BUILDING CONTAINERS AND PALLETS USED FOR DELIVERIES RESULTING IN SHIPMENTS WORLDWIDE (DIRECT, OR THROUGH AIR LOGISTICS CENTERS (ALC), CONTAINER CONSOLIDATION POINTS (CCP), OR OTHER BASES).

WOODEN LUMBER, WOODEN PALLET AND PACKAGING/CONTAINER STATEMENT:

ALL WOODEN LUMBER, WOODEN PALLETS, AND WOODEN CONTAINERS PRODUCED ENTIRELY OR IN PART OF SOLID WOOD PACKING MATERIAL (SWPM) SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED FROM HEAT-TREATED (HT) MATERIAL (HT 56 DEGREES CENTIGRADE OR 133 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT FOR 30 MINUTES). CERTIFICATION/MARKING IS REQUIRED BY AN ACCREDITED AGENCY RECOGNIZED BY THE AMERICAN LUMBER STANDARDS COMMITTEE (ALSC). FOR REFERENCE
