About this file

This document is a footnotes reference sheet issued by the Connecticut Department of Labor Wage and Workplace Standards Division, effective July 1, 2025, detailing prevailing wage benefit requirements for various construction and skilled trade occupations in Connecticut. The footnotes provide specific guidance for interpreting wage schedules when benefits are denoted by letters or letter combinations, clarifying the actual benefit provisions that must be paid at prevailing wage rates. The reference applies to multiple construction-related occupations including bricklayers, cement masons, concrete finishers, stone masons, dredging workers, elevator constructors, glaziers, power equipment operators, ironworkers, laborers in tunnel construction, roofers, sprinkler fitters, and truck drivers engaged in heavy, highway, and building construction projects.

The document establishes detailed paid holiday schedules and vacation benefit calculations for each occupation classification. Paid holidays vary by occupation, ranging from minimal holidays such as Labor Day and Christmas Day for glaziers to comprehensive holiday schedules including New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day for various construction trades. Vacation benefits are structured as either percentage-of-earnings contributions or flat hourly rates, with eligibility often contingent on length of service or employment tenure. Additional qualifying conditions are specified for many occupations, including minimum consecutive workdays prior to a holiday, employment duration requirements, and attendance at scheduled work days immediately before and after holidays. These prevailing wage footnotes apply to state and local contract opportunities in Connecticut, including construction projects such as the Clifton Street Boat Launch project, which involves timber pier, concrete abutment, and ADA-compliant infrastructure work.
